This course will present information about working with a VFX team and place special emphasis on script supervising for VFX. The lessons will include maintaining continuity, additional camera notes, slating, and plate shots. Films (including ones the instructor has worked on) and visual examples will be utliized to explain how the elements for VFX are achieved. Script notes from several films will help demonstrate the various ways the script supervisor keeps notes.
Beyond VFX, special breakdowns and information will be presented about complex story structure and special elements. A story may take place over decades, involves historical events, period elements and figures. It may involve elaborate Flashbacks or Dreams. It may be a plot that has two separate timelines, character transformations, SPFX (snow, hurricanes, plane crashes, and explosions), to name a few. As a result, there may be several units working on the production, requiring additional communication and records. You will learn how sript supervsing plays a key role in these concepts. We will even discuss ways to out-run the speeding train.
