Part B is the 2nd half of the Complete Script Supervising Course offered at Cinema Workshops. Note that in order to enroll in Part B, it will be mandatory that you have enrolled and completed Part A or will complete Part A prior to this workshop.
This workshop has been designed for the script supervisor who has completed a previous training program in script supervising and/or already worked on a project as a script supervisor. Script notes from previous experience "on set" is important to bring to the first day of this class. We will be reviewing script notes and techniques for scripting effectively, with discussions of on-set experiences from within the group. A question and answer session is followed by more in-depth scene study. This course will also cover blocking and script supervising more difficult sequences with a discussion on problems and solutions.
What you will learn
- Complex blocking strategies for dialogue scenes with multiple players and multiple cameras, using DVX camera (hands-on exercises)
- How to discover the "key" areas of a scene that could potentially be covered and what shots would be owed – what choices the director has to work with
- How to draw effective floor plans for all blocking strategies, place all camera angles owed in each sequence we rehearse, block and shoot
- Students act as crew and players within each scene
- Working with previously shot scenes ("Dailies"), you will analyze the continuity issues, study the blocking, directing, etc., and script supervise these scenes
- Crossing the line strategies will be studied and demonstrated with cameras and film clips
- Get new ideas, find solutions that can work to solve "on set" problems related to continuity
- Effective matching action techniques with multiple characters and cameras
